About Pets Info Pedia
Helping pet parents understand their furry family members better
We created Pets Info Pedia to help pet parents better understand their furry, fluffy, and floppy-eared family members.
For years, people believed in simple conversion rules like '7 dog years = 1 human year' or that cats age the same way as dogs. These myths don't account for how different animals actually age - or how dramatically size and breed affect lifespan.
Our calculators use the latest research:
- Dogs: The UCSD 2020 DNA methylation study showed that dogs age rapidly in their first years, then slow down. We adjust further based on breed size, since a Great Dane and Chihuahua age very differently.
- Cats: Felines mature quickly in their first two years (reaching about 25 human years), then age more gradually at about 4 human years per cat year.
- Rabbits: Our bunny friends reach adulthood quickly in their first year (equivalent to about 20 human years), then age roughly 6 human years per rabbit year after that.
We don't sell products or require sign-ups. Just accurate, helpful information for pet parents who want to understand their companions better.
Whether you're wondering if your kitten is still a teenager, checking if your senior dog needs a gentler exercise routine, or curious about your rabbit's life stage - we're here to help you give your pet the best care at every age.
